AP to emerge as hub for Android development
A five-day national workshop Oil Android Developer Fundamentals asserted on the need for inventing people-friendly Android applications which would help in every day life. The AP State Skill Development Corporation conducted the Workshop in VVIT at Nambur of Guntur district on Tuesday.
APSSDC CEO Mr G. Subba Rao, inaugurating the national-level workshop, said that a lot of changes are taking place swiftly in the field of science and technology. He said that mobile technology is the biggest platform which is giving lot of opportunities for revolutionary changes in the present and future eras.
He said that 85 per cent of mobile phones in India work on the Android mobile operating system developed by Google. He further said the publicare liking Android phones due to ease of operation.
Mr. Subba Rao said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu initiated a programme to train the engineering graduates in making socially useful Android apps. As part of this initiative, faculty members from more than 100 engineering colleges are going to be trained in the current workshop.
The faculty members later would train students at their respective colleges. He informed that the target is to train at least 10,000 students in developing Android apps. “AP can emerge as the hub of for emerging technologies if our students show interest to upgrade their skills.” He said the setting up of the Siemens Centre of Excellences across the state is also one of the greatest initiatives in the direction of transforming the state into a hub of science and technology. He said the first of the six centres of excellence sanctioned to the AP state will start functioning at VVIT after two weeks.
VVIT chairman Mr Vasireddy Vidya Sagar expressed happiness over choosing VVIT. Mr Pious Saraswat, program manager, Google India, Said his company believes that India has a dynamic talent pool and is developing different programmes to tap the talent. He said that he is very much excited to see fresh talent emerging from AP.
